Hi @cabinetlady,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is showing as offline despite restarting everything, there are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer and to the network. Sometimes a loose cable or a Wi-Fi connection issue can cause the printer to go offline.
- Printer Settings: Go to your computer's Control Panel or Settings and navigate to Devices and Printers. Right-click on your HP printer and select "See what's printing." Ensure that the "Use Printer Offline" option is unchecked.
- Restart Print Spooler: Sometimes the Print Spooler service on your computer might be stuck, causing the printer to go offline. You can restart this service by typing "services.msc" in the Windows search bar, finding "Print Spooler" in the list, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Restart."
- Reinstall Printer Driver: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver on your computer. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding your printer under "Print queues," right-clicking on it, and selecting "Uninstall device." Then, reinstall the printer driver using the installation CD or downloading the latest driver from the HP website.
- Check Printer Status: On the printer's control panel, check if there are any error messages or if the printer is displaying any issues that need to be addressed.
- Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website under the support section for your specific printer model.
- Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
