HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

My printer is constantly getting kicked off line by small power glitches, then it will not reconnect to my desktop.  When I try to add it back in the settings/bluetooth/printer the wrong printer name comes up and it tells me it can not connect.  Also how do I add or change the password for my printer, when I try to use from my iphone it asks for a password and don't ever even setting up a password.  The printer has only recently even ask for a password

Resolving Connection Issues and Managing Printer Passwords on HP ENVY 5055

Reconnecting Your Printer

  1. Reset Network Settings:

    • On your printer's control panel, go to the "Wireless" or "Network Settings" menu.
    • Select "Restore Network Settings" to reset the network configuration. This will clear any incorrect settings that may be causing connectivity issues.
  2. Reconfigure Wireless Connection:

    • After resetting, choose the "Wireless Setup Wizard" from the same menu.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Ensure you select the correct network name and enter the correct Wi-Fi password.
  3. Clear Old Printer Drivers:

    • On your computer, go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
    • Remove any existing instances of the printer that appear with the incorrect name.
    • Re-add the printer by selecting "Add a printer or scanner" and connect using the correct information.

Changing or Adding a Printer Password

  1. Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

    • Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer. This page will list the printer’s IP address.
    • Enter the IP address into a web browser to access the EWS.
  2. Set Up the Password:

    • Navigate to the Network or Security tab in the EWS.
    • Look for settings related to security or passwords.
    • Change or set a new password as desired. Make sure to save your settings.
  3. Configure on iPhone:

    • On your iPhone, re-configure the printer's connection by going to "Settings" > "Wi-Fi."
    • Under "Choose a Network," select your printer.
    • Enter the new password you set up in the EWS if prompted.

Tips to Prevent Future Issues

  • Power Supply: Consider using an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to help stabilize your printer’s power supply and prevent disconnections due to power glitches.

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your printer’s firmware is updated by checking the HP Support website or the EWS.

  • Correct Driver and Software: Make sure the HP Print and Scan Doctor is installed on your PC. This tool can diagnose and fix common connectivity issues.

If problems persist, reaching out to HP Support might be necessary for deeper technical support and guidance. They can offer more tailored advice for your specific setup and network configuration.
