Hi @BeeZee1218,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer settings in Adobe Illustrator on Windows 11.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check Printer Drivers

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your printer installed. Outdated or incorrect drivers can cause printing issues.

  • Update Printer Drivers:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Search for your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 7740).
    • Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 11.

2. Set Default Printer Settings

Ensure your printer settings are configured correctly in the Windows settings.

  • Access Printer Settings:
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Go to Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 7740) and select Printer properties.
    • Check the Device Settings tab to ensure all options are correctly set.

3. Adjust Printer Preferences in Illustrator

Sometimes, the printer preferences in Illustrator can cause issues.

  • Open Adobe Illustrator:
    • Go to File > Print.
    • In the print dialog, click on the Printer dropdown and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740.
    • Click on the Preferences or Printer Setup button.
    • Ensure the correct paper size and type are selected. Check for options such as Paper/Quality, Layout, and Advanced.

4. Check Illustrator Preferences

Resetting Illustrator preferences can also help resolve issues.

  • Reset Preferences:
    • Close Adobe Illustrator.
    • Relaunch it while holding down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows).
    • A dialog box will ask if you want to delete the preferences; click Yes.

5. Tiling and Scaling Issues

If you want to tile or scale your drawing, ensure the settings are configured correctly:

  • Set Up Tiling:
    • In the print dialog, under Options, check if there's a Tiling or Scale to Fit option. This might vary based on your version of Illustrator.
    • Make sure to select Artboard as the print option if you want to print the entire drawing.

6. Test Print from Another Program

To determine if the issue is specific to Illustrator, try printing from another program (e.g., Word or PDF viewer) to see if the printer settings function correctly there.

7. Reinstall Illustrator

If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling Adobe Illustrator to ensure it’s functioning properly.

I hope this helps.
