printer setup

Just had the worst experience trying to set up a cheap HP printer. I'm not completely computer illiterate (did my Ph.D dissertation including color pics 25 years ago) but after 10 hrs. I set up a Chat to get wireless connected. Spent 3 hrs. and had to finalize it myself. Then I tried to set up instant ink program, but HPSmart only recognized the old cprinter. Talked with a live agent, but no help unless I wanted to download the app to my smart phone. Way too much trouble just to get ink (and the whole world seems to be out of black ink for this mode)l. Thoroughly disappointed with HP. Anyone else have a similar experience?
