Hi @brels4 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer remains asleep and you need it ready to work. Let’s address this issue to ensure your HP Officejet Pro 8610 is functioning properly.
- Does the printer wake up if you press the power button or touch the display screen?
- Is the printer connected via USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi?
- Have you recently updated the printer's firmware or made any changes to your computer or network settings?
Let's try these steps.
Check the Power Button or Touch Screen:
- Gently press the power button or touch the printer’s display screen. This action should wake the printer from sleep mode.
Send a Print Job:
- From your computer, send a print job to the printer. Sometimes, printers wake up automatically when they receive a print command.
Disable Sleep Mode in Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Preferences > Energy Settings (or similar).
- Adjust the sleep mode settings to extend the time before the printer goes to sleep or disable sleep mode entirely.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer completely by pressing the power button.
- Unplug it from the power source for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset minor glitches causing the issue.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest firmware. The updated firmware can resolve bugs, including sleep mode issues.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
