Hi @JR1947BKM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it is when your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer freezes mid-job and won’t even power down properly; it feels like being stuck in traffic with no exit! Let’s troubleshoot this step by step so you can get back to printing smoothly.

Common Causes

  • Firmware glitch after multiple print jobs.
  • Print queue corruption in Windows or macOS.
  • The internal hardware lock is preventing shutdown.

Step 1: Force Power Off

Since the printer won’t shut down normally:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer while it’s still on.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and power on.

(This clears any stuck processes in memory.)

Step 2: Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause freezing:

Step 3: Clear Print Queue

On your computer:

  • Windows
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, find Print Spooler, click Restart.
  • Mac
    • Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Open Print Queue → Cancel all jobs.

Step 4: Reset Printer

If the issue persists:

  1. On the printer screen, go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.
  2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and re-add the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
