HP smart tank 720

connected using USB portconnected using USB portproduct : HP smart tank 720

Recently, i factory reset my printer. After that, it automatically updating its firmware. But during the firmware update, I accidentally turn off the printer power outlet. When i turn the printer on again, only the power button light up, and the wifi button keep on blinking forever. On the screen panel, only the wifi icon appear and blinking. No other icon show up. I tried using the HP smart app to set up the printer, but the printer did not show up to connect on Wifi. I tried to connect using the printer to my computer usb port, but it did not show up as printer. Instead, it was connected with a name "Firmware Update Device" on the computer usb port. I already tried to hard reset the printer multiple time by disconnected the power plug for few minutes and turn it on again, but nothing works. Please help me.

Hi @Yusri87,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with connecting your Printer to the network.

Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again.

1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Thank you for the reply. But it still did not resolve the issue. The control panel button is not responding when i pressed it. And I cannot connected to the printer either through Wifi (no signal) or USB (unidentified device). What baffles me is that there is no error number that was display on the control panel screen. The screen panel was blank except for a small exclamation mark "!" next to the faded Wifi icon.
