Rachel, Thank you for the reply,  Before I got your reply I had uninstalled and then reinstalled the software and drivers.  That pretty much cleared up the problem.  If I would have seen your reply first, I would have had a lot more confidence that it would work.  Thank you for getting back to me.

Hi @davehelo

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet 4650 is stuck in scan-only mode on one computer, but it's working fine for printing on another. Let’s troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a more focused step-by-step guide to fix this problem:

1. Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and wait a few seconds before turning it back on.
  • Restart the computer where the printer is stuck in scan-only mode.
  • Check if this resets the issue.

2. Check the Printer's Mode

  • Ensure the printer is set to "Print" mode and not "Scan" mode.
  • Go to the printer’s control panel and check for any settings related to printing. If the printer is in "Scan" mode, switch it back to "Print" mode using the menu on the display.

3. Remove the Printer Software

Since you're having trouble deleting the software, here’s how you can try again:

  • On Windows:
    1. Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    2. Find any HP printer software (like HP Smart, HP OfficeJet, etc.).
    3. Select the software and click Uninstall. Follow on-screen instructions to remove it.
  • On macOS:
    1. System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
    3. Then, go to Applications and remove any HP software by dragging it to the trash.

This should help remove any conflicting software that could be causing the issue.

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers

After you’ve uninstalled the software, reinstall the correct printer drivers for your HP OfficeJet 4650. You can do this by:

  • Going to the HP Support page and searching for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
  • During installation, choose both printer and scanning software to ensure proper functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
