@LMMH46, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. Click here for instructions

Uninstall and then reinstall the software

Uninstall and reinstall the Adobe software to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Add or remove programs.

  2. In the list of installed programs, click Adobe Reader, and then click Uninstall or Yes.

  3. If a User Account Control message displays, click Yes.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.

  5. After Adobe Reader uninstalls, close all programs and web browsers, and then restart the computer.

  6. Open a web browser, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

  7. Try printing the original pdf file again

Change the default program

Make sure Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is the default program for viewing pdf files.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control panel, and then click Programs.

  2. Click Default Programs, and then click Associate a file type protocol with a program.

    The Default apps window displays.

  3. Scroll down the window, and then click Choose default apps by file type.

  4. Find .pdf, click the plus sign or the default app, select Adobe Acrobat Reader DC from the list of results, and then close the Settings window.

  5. Try printing the original PDF file again

If the issue persists, refer to this link for additional troubleshooting steps.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
