HP Laser Jet MFP M234 will not connect to the computer.  Diagnostics says printer is OK. Control panel says printer is in default.  Have tried rebooting   Connection of printer to the computer with  cable does not work.

You mentioned that your HP LaserJet MFP M234 will not connect to your computer. Diagnostics reports the printer is OK, and the control panel shows it as default, but it still won’t print. You’ve also tried rebooting and connecting via cable without success.

 

Check Connection Type

If using USB cable, make sure it is connected directly to the PC (not through a hub).

Try a different USB port and cable if available.

If using Wi-Fi, ensure both printer and computer are on the same network band (2.4 GHz).

 

Reinstall Printer Drivers

Uninstall the printer from Devices and Printers / Printers & Scanners.

Download and install the latest Full Feature Software and Drivers for your model from HP Support.

 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from HP’s website.

It will automatically detect and fix most connection or driver-related issues.

 

Reset Printer & PC

Restart both printer and computer after driver installation to refresh the connection.

 

If Issue Persists

Test the printer on a different computer to rule out PC-side issues.

If it works on another system, the issue may be with your computer’s USB ports or drivers.
