@lia52, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Printer Driver Unavailable!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing issues with your HP printer showing a "Driver Unavailable" message and the printer prints fine from your phone but not from your computer, the problem is likely related to the printer driver on your computer. Here are steps to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Connection

  1. Ensure your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or Wi-Fi.

Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

Update the Printer Driver:

  • Windows:
    1. Click on the Start menu and select Settings.
    2. Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    3. Select your printer and choose Update driver.
  • Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences and click on Printers & Scanners.
    2. Click the Options & Supplies button next to your printer and select Driver tab to update.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:

  • Windows:
    1. Open Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
    3. Go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
    4. Follow the installation instructions.
  • Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences and click on Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer and click the *- * button to remove it.
    3. Go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
    4. Follow the installation instructions.

Restart Printer

  1. Turn off your printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it on again.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you. I succeeded in solving the problem on windows although there was no option to update driver as you explained.I did find options to download drivers from hp amd did just that. It took a while to get the printer print but it did. Tried it only once, hopenit will not repeat itsel as this message about driver not installed appeared after the printer was installed and working fine with the pc  about 7 months ago. Where did the driver disappeat?

thank you  again for answering my post
