Hi @mandy7709,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the Printhead Installation
- Turn on the printer and wait until it is idle and silent.
- Open the printer's access door to the printheads and cartridges.
- Inspect the printhead to ensure it is properly installed and seated.
- If the printhead appears to be incorrectly installed, reinstall the printhead:
- Lift the latch that holds the printhead.
- Remove the printhead carefully.
- Reinsert the printhead into its correct position.
- Lower the latch to secure the printhead.
Clean the Printhead Contacts
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Open the printhead access door and remove the printhead.
- Inspect the copper-colored contacts on the printhead and inside the printer. Make sure there is no ink residue, dust, or debris.
- Clean the contacts using a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Avoid using alcohol or any other cleaning agents.
- Dry the contacts gently with a dry lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the printhead and close the access door.
Reset the Printer
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before proceeding.
Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure the printer is connected to the internet and your computer.
- Go to HP Customer Support and search for "HP Officejet Pro 8610".
- Download and install any firmware updates available for your printer model.
Replace the Printhead
If the error persists, you may need to replace the printhead:
- Purchase a replacement printhead compatible with your printer model.
- Follow the instructions that came with the new printhead to install it correctly.
I hope this helps.
