Hello - For a few days now HP - Printer - 3.2.1.2285 has been stuck in my Windows update with the error Install error - 0x800f020b.
"A few" Windows updates came down and were installed earlier today so Microsoft Answers seems to say that it's a problem with this specific update. They have suggested installing it via the hp website.
Is this possible?

I have the same issue with an HP LJ. I think it depends on what HP software you have installed for your printer and what that software added to the Windows system during installation. the update is failing because it cannot find something... Very irritating... My system, the update downloads then fails trying to install.

Hi @Greyson,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues downloading the HP - Printer - 3.2.1.2285 driver update for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8024 printer using Windows Update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches or conflicts that may be preventing the download. After restarting, try updating the driver again.
Check Windows Update settings: Ensure that your Windows Update settings are configured correctly. Here's how.
- Open the Start menu and search for "Windows Update settings."
- Click on "Windows Update settings" to open the settings page.
- Click on "Advanced options."
- Under the "Choose how updates are installed" section, make sure "Automatic (recommended)" is selected.
- Close the settings page and try updating the driver again.
Manually install the driver: If Windows Update is not working, you can manually download and install the driver from the HP support website. Follow these steps.
- Visit the HP support website (https://support.hp.com/) and navigate to the support page for your OfficeJet Pro 8024 printer.
- Locate the "Drivers" or "Downloads" section and search for the latest driver for your printer model.
- Download the driver package compatible with your version of Windows.
- Once the download is complete, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
- After the installation is finished, restart your computer and check if the printer is working correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the input. I already tried all of your ideas plus did other things listed on Hp site. I stopped short of trying to figure out what of the many, many updates Microsoft has sent to me prior to when the HP - Printer - 3.2.1.2285 update began downloading then failing installation from Microsoft. Not sure why I would rollback all the successful updates from Microsoft so that the HP update would install ? I have three machines, all started having the HP failure around the same time.
I did run a test - Installed HP full package for my HP LJ300/400 color MFP M375-M475 PCL 6 printer. I then de-installed the installation as I do not use many / all of the additional things that the package installs and they take up a lot of hard drive and memory space. I then removed all the leftover folders / files, restarted my computer and installed only the drivers for my printer / scanner with LJ-M375-M475_Series_16079_Basic_Solution.exe
After doing all this the failing update worked fine. I surmise that something that HP is looking for on my machines got set / installed, allowing the install to proceed. HP needs to fix the update or work with Microsoft to fix it, a lot of people have the issue. I have screen captures of Microsoft updates that were made before / around the time the HP Printer update began to fail if someone wants them.
