i have a old printer HP 1020 which i am extnsively using even now for printing. when i am connecting this laptop YOGA LENOVO which has only C ports with this printer, it is not working at all - it says PRINTER NOT DETECTED - frustrating - kindly help

What operating system? If it does not detect at all that would suggest that the cable you are trying to use does not support it. Are you using a cable that connects directly from the usb c port to the printer port? If not, that is a possible issue.
