I've set up my new printer and started the process of downloading the software on my computer. I got through the entire installation problem with no problems until I had to download the essential software. It will download approxiamately 50% and then it stops and pops up with an error message reading "Cannot install software. Cannot download the software. Check your network connection, and then try again."
I know this is NOT a wifi connection issue as I am constantly connected to the internet on my computer and have other stuff loaded. I successfully download the software on my roommates Windows computer. Hers had a similiar error, but when it arose her computer prompted her to allow a special driver that authorized the connectivity, and after allowing it, it immediately finished the download and was opperational.
I believe it to be something I need to change in my settings to allow it to finish downloading, something to allow the connection but am unable to figure out what. I have checked my firewalls (none are in the way), I've restarted my computer, and I've tried downloading it with nothing else open on my computuer and it is not working.

Hello, @Allison-in-KC – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I’d like to help!
I understand that you are facing issues while installing the printer on your MAC. Try the steps below to install the printer:
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.
- Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @Aaanjoo
Thanks for reaching out!
Try to update the MAC, uninstall the printer drivers and then reinstall the drivers.

- Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.

- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Now, click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip to download and install the printer driver.
- In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:

HI
Thanks for the reply.
I already mention that I have tried adding the software using manual option and it does allow me to add the printer but printer is not printing but can scan.
Check this link on apple os x webite it shows supported HP printer list for OS x but no mention of printer DeskJet 2130. But HP website and my printer box says Deskjet 2130 is supported on OS X which doesnt seems to be true. Is HP misguiding?

Hi guys.
I recently purchased an HP Deskjet 2131. My problem is the same. I understand that this isnt a wireless printer. So I downloaded the HP Easy Start from HP's website. Facig the exact same error issue. Upon calling HP's customer care, they accessed my system remotely and saw the error pop up for themselves. I think the person I was dealing with was highly incompetent. He asked me to take my MacBook to Apple Customer Care. I mean, come on!
Please help.
I am using a MacBook Pro 15" that is running the latest firmware version 10.13.1.

Hello, @Aaanjoo
The printer is tested until MAC 10.11 OS version. Please check the specification here: Printer Specifications for HP DeskJet 1110, 2130 Printers
The printer should be supported in MAC Sierra as well, as this is a fairly new model. What drivers have you used to add the printer? Are you using the HP printer drivers or the AirPrint drivers to install the machine? Check the image below:
If you are using the AirPrint, try to install it with the HP printer drivers as suggested in my above post. If already using the printer drivers, try to install with AirPrint / Secure AirPrint drivers and check if that helps.
Hope that helps!

Dear DVortex ,
Thanks for your reply. Like I said in my other post, the printer box and HP websites are saying that this printer is compatible to Mac but at the same time if you look at the forum, alot of customers are saying the same thing that they are not able to install the driver using HP start app and not either manually entering in System preferences.
Simple question is why everyone is getting connection error when installing driver for this printer using HP easy start app on MAC? why there is no Ftp link to directly get printer driver?
I have already read all the related forum post and its failing on this printer driver installation.
I dont get AirPrint option. The mac automatically picks "Generic printer" option as it cant find drivr for this printer in system preferences.
Have also tried this!
Please uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
- Run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and the printer.
- Now, click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip to download and install the printer driver.
- In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.
