Hi @bittersweet47,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Null" notification from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e printer can occur due to several reasons, often related to connectivity issues, driver problems, or incorrect print settings. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and eliminate this notification.
Check Printer Connection
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Try restarting both your printer and your Mac.
Update Printer Drivers
- Make sure you have the latest drivers for your HP printer installed.
- Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model to download the latest drivers.
Reset Printing System
- This will remove all printers and scanners from your Mac and reset the printing system.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
- Re-add your printer after the reset.
Check Print Queue
- Open Printers & Scanners in System Preferences.
- Select your printer and click on Open Print Queue.
- Check if there are any stuck print jobs and clear them if necessary.
Remove and Reinstall the Printer
- In Printers & Scanners, remove your printer and then re-add it.
- Click the "+" button to add your printer back.
Check for Software Updates
- Make sure your MacOS and Safari are updated to the latest versions.
- Go to System Preferences > Software Update to check for any updates.
Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts
- Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with printing. If you have any printer management software installed, consider uninstalling it temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
After trying these steps, the "Null" notification should be eliminated.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @bittersweet47,
Thank you for your response,
Since the usual methods didn't resolve the problem, here are some additional steps to try.
Additional Troubleshooting Steps
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure that your printer is showing as "Online" in the Printers & Scanners section of System Preferences. If it's showing as "Offline," that could be causing the issue.
Verify Network Settings:
- Print a network configuration page directly from your printer (usually found in the settings menu) to ensure it's connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- If your printer has an Ethernet option, try connecting it directly to the router to see if the issue persists.
Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store if you haven’t already. This app can help manage your printer settings and might provide more insight into the issue.
Firmware Update:
- Although the Firmware Installer app indicated no updates were available, it's worth checking directly on the HP website for any firmware updates for your specific printer model that may not have been picked up by the app.
Delete HP Printer Drivers:
- Sometimes, residual files from old drivers can cause issues.
- Go to Finder > Applications > HP and look for any HP printer driver files. Delete them and then reinstall the drivers from the HP website.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on. This can help reset any internal issues.
Check Console for Errors:
- Open Console.app (found in Applications > Utilities) and look for any error messages related to printing or the HP printer. This may give you more insight into the problem.
Try a Different Browser:
- If you're trying to access printer settings or updates through Safari, try using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox to see if the issue is browser-specific.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
