HP ENVY Inspire 7224e All-in-One Printer

Brand new, just installed and setup, but during the first, and subsequent print jobs, the printer ticks like a clock?? Nothing wrong with print quality. Cartridges fitted and aligned correctly. A4 paper in paper tray as directed. Just ticks like a clock as it prints. Can't find any residual foam or cardboard transport materials present. All sticky tapes removed. Any ideas?

Hi @MrB369

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

f your brand-new printer is making a ticking noise while printing but the print quality is fine, here are some possible causes and solutions to consider:

Check for Loose Parts:

  • Ensure that all components, such as the ink cartridges and paper trays, are properly seated and secured. Sometimes, a loose part can cause unusual noises.

Inspect for Foreign Objects:

  • Even if you've checked for transport materials, double-check for any small pieces of packaging, tape, or debris inside the printer that might be causing the ticking noise.

Examine the Paper Path:

  • Look closely at the paper path for any obstructions or misalignments. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly and that it’s not too tight in the tray.

Listen for Normal Operations:

  • Some printers naturally make noise during operation, especially during initial setup or alignment processes. If the noise doesn’t seem to impact performance or print quality, it might just be a normal sound.

Check Rollers and Gears:

  • If you can safely access the internal parts, inspect the rollers and gears to ensure they are not misaligned or obstructed.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check the HP website for any firmware updates that might address operational issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
