Product: HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Just downloaded/installed printer drivers to new iMac.  When I sent test page to printer, it returned the message "Waiting for printer to become available"  Why won't it print?

@guyg00, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

  • To assist you better, how is the printer connected to the MAC?
  • Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if printer hardware is working fine.
  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
