Hi @schnejder,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to reset your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw to factory settings, follow these steps:
Using the Printer's Control Panel:
- Turn off the printer if it is currently on.
- Press and hold the 'Cancel' button and the 'Right Arrow' button on the control panel.
- Turn the printer on while still holding both buttons.
- Release the buttons when the "Permanent Storage Init" message appears on the display.
- The printer will perform a reset and then restart.
Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Connect your printer to your network and make sure it is powered on.
- On your computer, open a web browser and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar. The IP address can be found on the printer's control panel under Network Information.
- Once you have accessed the Embedded Web Server, go to the System tab.
- Click on Service in the left-hand menu.
- Click on Restore Defaults.
- Confirm that you want to restore the printer to its factory settings.
Using HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer from the Microsoft Store.
- Open the HP Smart app and add your printer if it is not already added.
- Click on your printer in the app to open the printer settings.
- Go to the Advanced Settings (this will open the Embedded Web Server in a browser window).
- Follow the same steps as in the Embedded Web Server section above to restore defaults.
