i just purchased an HP Smart Tank 7602 printer. I've followed all instructions and I continually get "At least one of the print heads has an error". I've verified everything multiple times. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @NKSPOON,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The "Printhead installation error" message on your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer can occur due to several reasons, such as improper installation, dirty contacts, or defective printheads. Here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Reinstall the Printheads:
    • Open the printer's printhead access door.
    • Wait for the printhead carriage to stop moving.
    • Remove and reinstall the printheads, ensuring they click securely into place.

  2. Check for Obstructions:
    • Inspect the printhead carriage for any obstructions or packaging materials that might be interfering with the printheads.

  3. Clean the Contacts:
    • Gently clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly dampened with distilled water. Ensure there is no moisture residue left on the contacts.

  4. Reset the Printer:
    • Turning off the printer and disconnecting it from the power source for a minute can sometimes resolve errors by resetting internal components.

  5. Verify the Printhead Configuration:
    • Make sure each printhead is installed in the correct position according to the printer's configuration instructions.

  6. Update Printer Firmware:
    • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and improve compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
