Hello @baudwalker ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Here's what you need to do:
- Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer/scanner >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
and HP Smart! - open "Device Manager"
must no longer be present! If still present, then right-click and click on delete. - Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- download only this complete package: HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s4 Firmware
HP recommends downloading and reviewing the Release Note file before installing the firmware file. Note) Please do not power off the device and keep the power is stable during the F/W update. - download only this complete package: HP Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver
Be sure to read the additional information. - The firmware will be installed later!
Close all programsFirst install the new FirmwareFile name: HP_ScanJet_Pro_3000_s4_0614y24_FW0.65.zip (18.5 MB)Restart the PC- Close all programs
Note: This installation is now only carried out with USB.
The connection type can be changed later. - Reconnect the printer/scanner to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
Do not connect the printer/scanner to the system. - Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
File name: Full_Webpack-63.4.6169-SJ0001_Full_Webpack.exe (411.0 MB)
Note: Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner. - The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the System again
- Now the installation is complete.
- check "Device Manager" and take a screenshot of it and upload it here.
Microsoft IPP Class Driver must not be present.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
Now "HP Scan" should work again.
Please send me your feedback.
Kind Regards

There is an acknowledged issue with Windows 11 24h2 and scanning that Microsoft is working on a fix. The cause is that 2 instances of the scanner show in device manager and one needs to be deleted. Sorry the only information I have at this time is not public listed so I cannot post it. Perhaps a moderator here will have public version of how to force the uninstall of the eSCL installation.

Hi @baudwalker
I have changed the uninstallation and installation, please note.
“Device Manager” here additionally expand the two categories:
a) Printer queue
b) Other devices

Why hasn't HP release a driver update to address this very issue? I've been enduring this same problem since December 15th 2024 and was sure an updated drive would be available by now. Read this:
