Up to december 2024, I was able to scan (HP Smart) and save the document as a searchable PDF. Now it is no longer possible. I only have 2 options (basic PDF of Picture) instead of 3. Did HP change the app? Is there a solution in the settings?

Please try the below suggestion and let me know if this helps.

As the full feature software now does not have the said option, Save scans as editable text with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in HP Scan for Windows.

Refer to the link below for detailed instructions.

HP printers - Scan as Editable Text (OCR) with HP Scan (Windows) | undefined

If the option to save a document as a searchable PDF has disappeared in the HP Smart app, it suggests a change in your setup—either due to an update, a shift in settings, a licensing restriction, or a compatibility issue with your printer or device.

Alternatively, workaround with third-party tools to make your PDF searchable is a practical method.

Hi, I downloaded the HP Scan and it works perfectly. I also found the solution in the HP Smart app. It was very simple, I was no longer logged in. I know, stupid that I did not see that. But by admitting this, it may help other people 😉

Thanks
