Hi @bugsmoran,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer is printing slowly on your new Acer computer with Windows 11, there are several potential causes and solutions you can try:

Possible Causes and Solutions:

Driver Issues:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP ENVY 5055. Sometimes, using an outdated or incompatible driver can cause printing issues, including slow printing.
  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers specifically for Windows 11.

Print Settings:

  • Check the print settings in your printer preferences. Printing in high-quality or photo mode can significantly slow down print speeds.
  • Try changing the print quality to "Draft" or "Normal" if high-quality output isn't necessary.

Connection Type:

  • If your printer is connected via WiFi, there might be a weak signal or network interference. Try moving the printer closer to your router or using a wired connection (USB) to see if print speeds improve.
  • You can also try restarting your router and printer to refresh the network connection.

Spooling Settings:

  • Printing slowdowns can sometimes be due to the way print jobs are spooled (prepared) in Windows.
  • To check and change spooling settings:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click on your HP ENVY 5055 printer and select Printer properties.
    3. Go to the Advanced tab.
    4. Ensure Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster is selected.
    5. Click Apply and then OK.

Windows Print Spooler Service:

  • Restarting the Print Spooler service can sometimes resolve printing issues.
  • To restart the Print Spooler service:
    1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Find Print Spooler in the list, right-click it, and select Restart.

Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP ENVY 5055 printer. Updated firmware can fix bugs and improve performance.
  • You can check for firmware updates via the HP Support website or HP Smart app.

Document Complexity:

  • Complex documents with high-resolution images or many fonts can take longer to print. Simplifying the document or reducing its size can improve print speed.

  • Clear Print Queue: Ensure there are no stuck print jobs in the queue, as these can slow down the printer. You can clear the print queue in Devices and Printers.
  • Test on Another Computer: If possible, try connecting the printer to another computer to determine if the issue is specific to your new Acer computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
