HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Just received my new HP laptop.

I have been trying to install the "Full Feature Software" for the 9020 printer.  I can only get so far before I am asked to enter the PIN number. I am advised that this number is on the inside of the printer cartridge cover.  In my case this is not so. (The printer is still under warranty).

I called support and they couldn't solve the problem either, mentioning in passing that they have seen several problems withe PIN number on printers. Was expecting  a call back - this hasn't happened.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply. I have taken a picture of the 9020 in question.

As you can see the PIN strip is missing.

On my OTHER 9020 the PIN is there. Obviously missed during production. Any further help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @howard182

Question: was this printer bought from the store or a hand-me down or 2nd hand?

Anyway, the PIN is stored on the printer as well:

1. From the Control Panel, tap on the "?"

2. Scroll down until "Printer Information" and print that 1 page

3. Printer PIN is under "Connectivity Settings" on the printed page.

Hope that helps!

IMany thanks for your response.

There is no ? on either of my 9020 printers.

I then interrogted the printer via HP SMART. There is no PRINTER CONNECTIVITY listed on the PRINTER INFORMATION list,

All of my printers were purchased via the HP store. This printer is still under warranty.

Thanks again for help.

Howard.

I;m sorry. I didn't see the ? on the main external panel. I was looking at the LCD screen. Having said that, I have now completed the exercise as you outlined.

Under Connectivity Settings I still cannot see a PIN number. I have attached the printout. URL.s have been redacted.HP 9020 V5.jpg

Thank you so much for spending the time on this.

Thanks for the very quick response.

It didn't seem right that 12345678 is the PIN.

However I have tried it and the message is "invalid PIN number"

Should I give up at this point.? Or is there anything else I can try.
