Hi @Grammie13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to update the software (firmware) on your HP Envy 7855 printer. Let’s go through a few steps to check how to do this.

Make sure the printer is connected to the internet
Confirm the printer is connected to Wi-Fi and shows as Ready.
Firmware updates require an active internet connection.

Update directly from the printer control panel
On the printer touchscreen, open Settings or Setup.
Select Printer Maintenance or Tools, then choose Update Printer or Check for Updates.

Enable automatic updates (recommended)
In the printer’s Settings > Printer Maintenance, look for Auto Update.
Turn it ON so future updates install automatically.

Update using the HP Smart app
Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
Select your printer, then check for any update notifications and allow them to install.

Update from HP Support Assistant (Windows only)
Open HP Support Assistant on your computer.
Click Updates and install any firmware updates listed for the printer.

Keep the printer powered on during the update
Do not turn off the printer while the update is installing.
The printer may restart on its own once the update is complete.

Confirm the update completed
After the restart, return to the printer settings and check the firmware or software version.
This confirms the update was applied successfully.

I hope this helps.
