I hve tried multiple times to set up my new LaserJet M477 printer, but every time I get an error when installing the software on my laptop. I've tried using the included CD, downloading from the web, and using the HP support program and I get the same result every time.
The installer prompts me to plug the laptop into the printer, goes through a long process, get to 99% done, then says an installation is taking too long, tells me to restart the computer and start over.
The laptop is ASUS F555UA-EH71 15.6 Inch, Intel Core i7, 8GB, 1TB HDD Laptop, Windows 10 (64bit)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
From the printer select Setup, then open the Service menu.
Look for any HP Smart Install option, if a such appears be sure to select it and disable the feature, if it isn't shown continue following the next steps.
From your PC right click the Start icon and select Control Panel
Type Change into teh search bar and open the 'Change Device Installation Settings' option.
Select 'No' and confirm.
Next return the the Control Panel home and remove any listed HP Printers by selecting Remove Device.
Next left-click any remaining print queueand then click on Print Server Properties from the top menu bar.
Open the Drivers tab and remove any shown HP Driver, be sure to select 'Remove driver and driver package and confirm.
Now try reinstalling the printer and check for ay difference.
If the same persists, ensure the USB is not longer than 2 meters long, try connecting it directly to a different port at the back of your PC or try a different USB Cable or a network connection instead.
Please let me know the results,
Shlomi

I tired your suggestion but still got the same error: "An install operation took too long to exectue. This is a fatal error prevent product use. Please restart your computer, and run the installer again."
I've tried every usb port on the computer, using the cord supplied by the printer. . Originally, I had tried to connect to the printer wirelessly, but the computer wouldn't recognize it on the network.
I'm going to go through the steps you gave and try the wirelss option again.
