some pages scanned 'upside down'

HP Recommended
HP Officejet Pro 8710 / HP Scan and Capture
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My scanner is now scanning every other page as 'upside down' (that is, its not rotating the page correctly) scanning from two sided source to multipage PDF. But *sometimes* a couple of sequential pages scanned are both correct.

It may be trying to be clever about document scan orientation??

It worked before I upgraded the version of HP Scan and Capture (current is 40.0.245.0)

I could live with this if it were possible to rotate every other page manually before saving to a multipage PDF, but that doesn't seem an option.

@Idaten

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.

I understand that you are facing scan issue, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

When was the printer working for the last time?

Are you facing this issue after an update?

However, I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Use this link: https://hp.care/2Id7Bq2 to update the firmware.

Use the HP Scan and Capture App (Windows 8 and 10) by clicking on this link: https://hp.care/2fAFYxE

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://hp.care/2KeVVTZ to download the driver.

Keep me posted, how it goes! However, I'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

this is horrible advice.

For one thing, the upside down PDF is generated inside the printer - the device driver has nothing to do with it.

I'm seeing the same problem when scanning to dropbox.

This type of solution can be characterized thus: You have no idea how to fix the problem, so instead, give the customer a list of painful steps and hope they give up and go away.

I agree on the painful advice there. Did you have any luck fixing the issue? I might return the printer if that's how it scans by default

I have a similar problem with an OfficeJet Pro 6960, everything is scanned randomly even when saved and adjusted and then sent, the end results are upside down. This printer is around two months old.
