trouble installing easy start

I'm trying to use my printer to scan via the touchscreen. Reason being, sometimes, the HP Smart App does not work to scan. I would like to scan straight to the desktop. I get a message on the screen to install Easy Start. I go through the entire process and when it gets to the end, I get an error message stating 'I don't have the privileges to do the install.'  It's my pc, and my profile is set as 'Administrator'. How do I fix this or bypass it?

Yes, it is best if you are signed into the computer using your Microsoft account sign-in that is an administrator account type.

No, I don't know why Easy Start would not let you select the full software to install it...

You can install the printer software without using Easy Start.

Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software on your computer.

Restart the computer and sign in.

Enable the Scan to Computer feature

Next,

Optionally install the Universal Scan Software

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to start the scan - no additional software needed on the computer. 

Webscan must be enabled before first use.

 Remove / Install the full driver printer software

If not done by this point...

Restart everything, including the router that controls you network.

Can't stand it?  At least restart the printer and the computer and any device you can stand to be without for a short time.

Next,

Run Windows Updates  --  If any updates are installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Next,

Printer - Full Feature Software - Install

If you have not done so, consider

• HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop:  Printer Assistant and HP Scan.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.  No Sign-in required.

If the full driver printer software is (already) installed but not working,

• Uninstall any printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
• Restart the computer and sign in.

What if?

NOTE: If software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and is “still hanging around” after you uninstall / Restart...

Next,

• Check (for the Printer) in Devices and Printers  > If found, Right-Click Printer and Remove -- If any changes are made, that is, you remove anything, Restart the computer and sign in.

Next,

• If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, disconnect the cable before installing the printer software.

• Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start Software

• Open File Explorer
• Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
• Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator”
• If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, connect the cable when instructed (near the end of the installation).
• After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

 HP Universal Scan Full Feature Software adds OCR libraries to installed HP Scan software. 

HPUS installs a new, full featured, (and separate) HP Scan software shortcut to the Desktop.

Note:  HPUS can be installed as standalone or installed after the full feature printer software.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in

HP Universal Scan Software provides a larger GUI to make using the software easier on high-resolution screens.   New features have been added to the main menu to help with navigating the settings.

Webscan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software

This option requires a network connection and EWS

NOTE: Webscan feature is not available on Laser printers

If the printer is on the network,

If the EWS feature is available on your printer,

First Time Use Only: Enable Webscan

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Enable >> Check box next to Webscan

Click Apply to save any changes

Use Webscan

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Webscan 

Set up Webscan the way you want it - for example, set the Source to ADF

Click Start Scan to scan your document / image using Webscan

After the scan is complete, Save the scan to your computer.
