@race5, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering a 'TWAIN driver not found' error on Windows 10, it indicates that your scanner's TWAIN driver is missing, corrupted, or not installed correctly. Here’s how you can fix it:
Step 1: Download and Install the TWAIN Driver
- Go to the HP Website
Visit the official HP website - Official HP® Support - Search for Your Model
Enter your scanner’s model number in the search bar. - Download the TWAIN Driver
Look for "TWAIN driver" or "Full Feature Software" and download the latest version compatible with Windows 10. - Install the Driver
Run the downloaded file and follow the installation steps. - Restart Your PC
Reboot your computer to apply the changes.
Step 2: Verify TWAIN Driver Installation
- Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Windows\twain_32
- Check if a folder with your scanner’s name exists. If the folder is missing, reinstall the TWAIN driver.
Step 3: Check Windows Scanner Settings
- Press Win + R, type control, and press Enter.
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Find your scanner, right-click it, and select Properties.
- Ensure it’s set as the default scanner.
Step 4: Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Additional Troubleshooters > Scanner and run the troubleshooter.
Step 5: Reinstall the Scanner
- Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
- Expand Imaging devices or Other devices.
- Right-click your scanner and select Uninstall device.
- Disconnect and reconnect your scanner, then reinstall the driver.
Step 6: Check for Windows Updates
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the 'TWAIN driver not found' error and get your scanner working again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
