hp envy 4520 printer with lenovo laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Seriously ready to throw my HP printer out.  I just got a brand new Lenovo laptop with windows 10 and am unable to print duplex.  Had no issues with my windows 7 laptops printing duplex.  I removed the printer along with all temporary files and no luck.  Three things happen: 1.  It takes FOREVER (up to 15 minutes)  to print 2.  It take FOREVER (up to 20 minutes) to delete a document 3.  When it does print, it gives me a message that says, "The front side of your document is printing, when printing is complete, reinsert the printed pages into the tray as shown in this picture, and then click continue in this dialog box.

Hi @jonapa3

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.

Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor, it is a Windows tool to fix printer issues.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the printer driver -

1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".

2. Look for HP Printer software.

3. Right-click to uninstall.

4. In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.

5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.

6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).

8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.

9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.

10. Select Ok.

11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.

12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.

13. Restart the computer.

14. Download and install the software and drivers from here for Windows 10 (64-bit).

15. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

You solved the first part of my problem...I can now duplex print which is awesome!  Now for the second part...

It literally takes about 4-5 minutes to print a document.  And if I send two items to the printer, I am forced to manually cancel the first print job once it prints so the second job can print.  It's even held the print job in the queue over night and printed the first print job again next morning once I turn on the printer.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Does it take a long time when making Photocopies?

Please ensure the printer has the latest firmware: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

If the issue persists we might have to do a Semi Full Reset

there isn't a delay when scanning, only printing.  I did update the firmware and no change with the delay in printing.  Love any advice you  have to offer.
