unable to print two sided print from my laptop windows and even from hp smart app itz getting paper jam when ever i choose two sided option

The issue of paper jams when attempting duplex (two-sided) printing on your HP Smart Tank 790 All-in-One printer could be caused by several factors, including incorrect paper settings, hardware issues, or firmware/software bugs. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Paper Quality and Loading

1. Use Recommended Paper

  • Ensure you are using plain, good-quality paper (80gsm recommended).
  • Avoid damp, curled, or damaged paper.

2. Check Paper Tray

  • Adjust the paper width guides snugly but not too tight.
  • Load only 50-100 sheets at a time (not too many).
  • Fan the pages before loading to prevent sticking.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Download and install the latest firmware:
  • Go to HP Support.
  • Search for HP Smart Tank 790.
  • Download the latest Firmware Update Utility.
  • Run the utility and follow the instructions.

Reset the Printer

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug it for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Adjust Print Settings on Windows

1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

2. Right-click on your HP Smart Tank 790 and select Printing Preferences.

3. Under Paper/Quality, ensure:

  • Media Type is set to Plain Paper.
  • Paper Size matches your actual paper (e.g., A4, Letter).

4. Go to the Finishing or Layout tab.

  • Enable Two-Sided (Duplex) Printing.
  • Select Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge based on your preference.

Reinstall HP Smart and Drivers

1. Uninstall HP Smart and HP drivers:

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
  • Remove HP Smart and HP Printer Drivers.
  • Restart your PC.

2. Download and reinstall drivers:

  • Visit HP support page and get the latest full-feature driver.
  • Install and restart.

Check Duplex Unit for Obstructions

  • Open the rear access door and check if any paper bits are stuck.
  • Gently clean the duplex rollers with a lint-free cloth.
