HP 3050J611
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last Friday I had to reinstall the HP 3050 J611 printer due to installing a new Modem and Router. The printer works fine, has been a real workhorse. However, I'm experiencing a strange problem. Out of nowhere the printer turns on and prints a document again that I had printed days ago. It's done this several times. I've checked the print que, it doesn't show any documents in the que. Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem?  Wasting paper and ink.  Thanks for the help.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your Printer prior to the issue?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks, Echo for your response. I haven't tried what you recommended as the 3050A J611 just stopped doing the extra prints. Why I have no idea. I'm going to print your recommendations and save them for future use in case I have this issue again. By the way, due to my having to install a new Router and Modem, all the printers' settings and software were updates as I had to install both my HP printers. No doubt that could have caused the problem.
