Hi, i upgraded to Big Sur OS and the printer was not connecting, kept showing off line.  i deleted everything and tried to reinstall but spent an hour with no luck.  seems drivers have not been developed and now M12w no longer supported. seems like HP wants me to buy a new one.

 

any step by step instructions on how to fix?

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Easy Start Utility:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/ASU/HP_Easy_St...

 

As soon as you open HP Easy Start, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and check if that may work.

 

If you experience any issues, open HP Easy Start again, from the HP Easy Start menu select Preferences.
Click on HP Easy Start.log and the log folder will launch, please reply me back via a Private Message with the log content attached, please clarify if you may not able to access private messaging.

Thank you for your help. i followed your instructions, had to download the HP Printer Drivers, tried to install and receive the following error 

This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.

Hi,

Please be sure to delete any existing HP Easy Start file from your Downloads folder, then download the file again.

 

The error you describe is from using another version which is not intended for Big Sur, I won't be surprised if there is maybe any existing older version there so the error is shown.

 

If there is no change, what do you mean by downloading "HP Printer Drivers"? what EXACT filename do you try launching

The driver packaged is off the HP website called HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg

Hi,

Please go through my steps above, if it fails please let me know the required information by providing the log from HP Easy Start as listed on the post.

 

The HP Printer Driver 5.1 is intended for Catalina, it is not intended for Big Sur and therefore the error is shown...

 

Please carefully go through my previous steps, asking for step by step instructions but taking completely other steps then, will unlikely get the problem resolved.

When i go to the step after 

Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and check if that may work.

it states: We were not able to automatically locate any software options for this product.  Pleas go the HP Website and search for product solutions there.... that is how I got to the drivers you mention is for Catalina.  so hp doesn't seem to have the appropriate software/drivers?
