Hi @Butch_3913Print,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'd be happy to help you with your HP Officejet 8012e printer issue. When you install a new cartridge, the printer usually goes through a validation process to ensure that the cartridge is genuine and compatible. However, sometimes this validation process can take longer than expected or get stuck.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the validation issue.
- Wait a bit longer: Sometimes, the validation process can take some time, especially if it's the first time you're installing the cartridge. It's possible that the printer is performing a more thorough validation. Wait for about 15-30 minutes to see if the validation completes.
- Restart the printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the validation process starts again or if it completes this time.
- Check cartridge installation: Ensure that the cartridge is properly installed in the correct slot. Open the printer cover, take out the cartridge, and then reinsert it securely.
- Check for firmware updates: Sometimes, printer firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. Visit the official HP website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Officejet 8012e printer model. If there are, follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
- Try a different cartridge: If you have another compatible cartridge available, try installing it to see if the validation process completes successfully. This will help you determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself or another printer-related problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
