i purchased a manual and on page 963 claims to have a video on the subject but its a video removing the main drive assembly

The manual should show most of the steps. There does not appear to be a public view video. As per the manual you need to remove pretty much everything on the back of the device to access the 2 FFC cables that connect to the scanner assembly. Note that some manuals have an error regarding removing the scanner. The correct position of the front door when removing or reinstalling the scanner is closed. (some manuals say open). If the door is open, the lens cleaners are in the lowered position and get broken off when you pull the laser scanner out. Take lots of pictures and note any empty connectors on any boards you are removing as the number of connectors makes it easy lose one wire and missing one wire will likely mean you will have to disassemble again.
