I have the up-to-date driver but my 2630 printer is like death warmed up for speed.

Any suggestions?

Therefore, do I persevere with this printer when the internet cannot provide answers?

Or do I renew the printer after 3 years of extremely light use, bearing in mind that I have 5 new cartridges for this printer?

Remove the old driver, according to the procedure I gave you. First download this driver, to prepare the driver installation, it has 16.4 capacity: Right click on the downloaded file, property, unblock, OK.

Remove the old driver, according to the procedure I gave you. Then download and install this new full HP driver, it has a capacity of 136.3 MB: Once the download is complete, right click on the downloaded file, property, unblock, OK. Install the new downloaded driver, following the procedure already given.

At the end of the installation, go to control panel, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer, set as default printer, then right click again, create a shortcut, on the desktop? Yes. Go to the Windows desktop and click on the new shortcut, in the window that opens, click on customize the printer, a command menu will open, click on what you want to do.

At the end of the installation, restart your PC. This should work if you followed the procedure already given.

              Hello craprinter,

Here is the latest complete HP driver, for your printer. Uninstall the old driver and install the new HP full driver. At the end of the installation,

restart the PC.

Dear Bernard.

 

Thank you for your offer of assistance.

 

I downloaded the exe file and installed it.

Then, I spent the next 90+ minutes removing it as I now had a black screen. 

"your xxx crashed 3 times in 10 seconds"

             Hello craprinter,

 

 

Before installing the new HP full driver, have you uninstalled the old HP driver, in programs and features, then deleted your printer name in ProgramFiles and ProgramX86? Have you been in control panel, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer, delete. Once the new driver was downloaded, did you right click on the setup.exe, install as administrator? Then at the end of the installation of the new full Hp driver, did you restart your computer? If you have not done this procedure, which is the normal procedure for uninstalling, installing an HP driver, it is Normal that it didn't work.

Dear Bernard

 

Thanks for the "how to" information. Yikes !

 

Okay. That has all been done. No trace of the printer on my laptop. None.

 

First reload via administrator gave me the error message suggestion to look (can't remember where) for a solution. screenshot - no solution available.

Second attempt and screenshot. 2 hours of whatever this is.

The HP Smart which installed and started automatically indicates that all is well with the printer.

Test Print took 4 minutes and 45 seconds and all that is on the sheet is a doodle of a printer.

Dear Bernard,

PHEW !

Thank you for your patience, and for the extremely clear instructions. This has enabled me to have a reasonably functional HP deskjet 2630.

I have summarised the stages used, based on your instructions. see below.

[ Whilst installing the printer a page was printed in order to obtain a code. (Why is this so complicated?) For whatever reason it was in German. Glückwunsch ! (Congratulations) whatever ]

My test page of 300 words took 50 seconds to print. Second page was 65 seconds. Black and white text at a Draft quality. This is still pretty terrible but at least it isn’t almost 5 minutes like yesterday !

Printer assistant diagnostic page also took 50 seconds.

Printer assistant tells me the amount of ink remaining in my 305XL cartridges. Which is not very interesting because I have HP339 and HP344 cartridges. One reason why I have persevered with maintaining this printer is because I have 5 unopened cartridges. Worth more than the printer !
