@Kate130, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are looking for a printer driver.

Check the connectivity between the devices.

Click here to download the driver via HP Easy Start.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello! The driver that matches the website does not fit my laptop macOS Big Sur 11.5.2. The laptop cannot see the printer. And the driver for its software is not.

@Kate130

If the Mac is not able to find the printer, it is a connectivity issue. The driver available on the HP site is for macOS 11 that is compatible with macOS 11.5 as well.

I believe you are using a USB cable.

Make sure the cable is directly connected between the Mac and the printer.

The use of a USB hub is not recommended. Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac.

Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.

To check, select the Go menu on the top of the screen and go to the Applications folder.

  • Check if the printer is getting recognized by your Mac:
  1. From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
  2. Click System Report.
  3. Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB.

USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus.

Keep me posted.

i have the same problem with big sur 11.5.2. the mac does see the printer in the system report. i have firewall off and no antivirus software. i have been dead in the water for over 48 hrs. there is definitely a problem with the latest version of the hp software.

@msokol

If the Mac does not find the printer under USB ports, it means there is an issue with the connectivity. Software is not involved here.

Are you using a USB cable or have you connected wirelessly?

Try a different USB cable, or a different USB port.

Keep me posted.
