Hi @JM276, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your printer is in setup mode and is trying to establish a connection using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). BLE is used for initial setup via the HP Smart app but is not meant for regular printing. The fax number request suggests that the printer setup process hasn't been completed.
🔧 Try These Steps to Fix It:
1️⃣ Complete the Printer Setup
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
- Ensure your printer is connected to Wi-Fi (not just Bluetooth).
- Follow the on-screen setup instructions.
2️⃣ Disable Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
- On the printer’s control panel, go to:
Settings > Network Settings > Bluetooth Low Energy - Turn it off if possible.
- Alternatively, disable BLE in the HP Smart app settings on your phone.
3️⃣ Skip the Fax Setup (If You Don’t Need It)
- If your printer asks for a fax number but you don’t use fax, choose Skip or Cancel when prompted.
- If there's no skip option, enter any random number (e.g., "0000000000") and proceed.
4️⃣ Restart Everything
- Power off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
- Restart your computer/phone and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
