Printer worked fine with both android and an earlier hp laptop using smart app-now does not work with either and am unable to get unit into direct print mode. Hp support assistant locked up when trying to work on issue initially and two different attempts to load new print drivers failed to load. Folks when an HP laptop can't communicate with an HP printer tis a sad day.

Hi @happyImnot,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP OfficeJet Pro 7300 Printer is having a connectivity issue. Try these steps:

1) Check the Wi‑Fi light/status:

  • Off = printer is not connected to Wi‑Fi. Press the Wi‑Fi button to turn it on.

  • Blinking = printer is in setup mode, trying to connect, or unable to connect.

  • One printer is connected to Wi‑Fi.

This model uses the Wi‑Fi light and icons together to show the connection state.

2) Restore network defaults

If the printer no longer connects, restore the network settings:

  • Press and hold the Wi‑Fi button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
After this, the printer returns to wireless setup mode, and you can reconnect it.

3) Reconnect using HP App:

4) Turn Wi‑Fi Direct on:

For the HP OfficeJet Pro 7300 series, Wi‑Fi Direct is turned on from support mode:

  1. Press and hold the Information button for at least 5 seconds to enter support mode.

  2. Press the Wi‑Fi button and Resume button at the same time to turn Wi‑Fi Direct on or off.

5) Print a network test report:

To help diagnose the issue:

  1. Enter support mode by holding Information for 5 seconds.

  2. Press Information + Resume at the same time.

This prints the Wi‑Fi Network Test Report and Network Configuration Page.

6) If the driver installation failed on the laptop:

For this series, HP recommends:

  • Install/reinstall software from 123.hp.com

  • Or use the HP app to set up and manage the printer

7) If the printer still will not connect:

The guide says if the printer is unable to connect to Wi‑Fi after setup, see Network and connection issues. If HP Support Assistant locked up, try using HP App directly instead of Support Assistant. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
