Hi @win73

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s a good question.

The HP OfficeJet 8135e is part of HP’s OfficeJet 8100/8100e series, and unfortunately, it is too new to have official Windows 7 drivers. HP dropped Windows 7 support for most printers released after ~2020, including the “e” models (like 8135e, 8022e, 9015e, etc.).

Here’s what you need to know:

On HP’s support site, the 8135e lists drivers only for Windows 10 and newer.

There is no Windows 7 Pro driver package published for this model.

Workarounds

1. Use Basic Print Driver (Generic)

Windows 7 has built-in “Generic/Text Only” or “DeskJet/OfficeJet class” drivers.

This will allow basic printing only, but no scanning or advanced features.

Add manually:

Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Add Printer → Add Local Printer → Windows Update → choose HP Universal drivers.

2. Try HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) for Windows 7

HP’s UPD (PCL6 or PostScript) sometimes works for newer models in simple print mode.

Download: HP Universal Print Driver for Windows 7

⚠️ This will not enable scanning or advanced functions, but may allow printing.

3. Network Printing (if supported)

If your OfficeJet 8135e is on Wi-Fi/Ethernet, you can try adding it as a network printer using IP address with a universal driver.

4. Upgrade Recommendation

Since HP only provides HP Smart app drivers for this model (Win 10/11), you’ll get full features only on newer Windows.

For scanning especially, Windows 7 will not work with this printer.
