"That didn't work" is the error message regardless of how I attempt to get my new win11 to print excel and outlook.
WiFi connect and allow email to print and print anywhere
1 HP smart sees the printer, it scans, but won't print
2 tried using IP address
3 tried using win11 add device
printer still works from win10 wifi, and from apple iPhone
used help from HP site, the printer, google, youtube
I'm a CTO and 3 days into frustration with HP device - HP Smart has so much over head and extra "features" it has become unusable -
LONG LIVE HP4 - it lasted over 20 years and always worked.

@DbcooperFoxman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing Issues on Windows 11 with HP Printers!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you are experiencing difficulties with printing from your Windows 11 computer using an HP printer, despite successful connections and other functions (such as scanning), there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
1. Check for Windows Updates
Ensure your Windows 11 OS is fully updated, as updates might contain necessary patches that fix compatibility issues with printers:
- In Windows, search for and open "Check for updates."
- Install any available updates and restart your computer if prompted.
2. Reinstall Printer Drivers and Software
You may need to reinstall the printer software and drivers:
- Uninstall the existing printer software:
- In Windows, search for and open "Add or remove programs."
- Find your printer in the list and click "Uninstall", follow the prompts.
- Download and install the latest printer drivers:
- Go to 123.hp.com and follow the instructions to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
- Also, consider downloading the latest version of the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store: HP Smart.
3. Restore Network Settings on the Printer
Restoring your printer’s network settings can help reset Wi-Fi connections:
- Printers with a touchscreen control panel:
- Open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network Setup or Settings, and then select "Restore Network Settings".
- Printers without a touchscreen control panel:
- Use the control panel buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode. Follow the instructions provided here: Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
