HP 7525, Envy 600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Long time HP loyalist about to swear off HP products because of faulty software for wireless connection. We bought the photosmart several years ago and never retained good wireless connection having to reboot the printer every time we needed to print from phones, desktop, laptop or tablets. Thinking it was the a local problem I bought a new Envy 6000 and too late discovered the problem is not mine but HP's. As I see it now, this has been a long time problem that HP has failed to address and my opinion of the company has dropped considerably. Partly my fault for not researching earlier but I am soured on HP's dedication to product quality and customer service.

@pochdav

I've read your message - I realize you are not asking for help.

"Was true"

The old Photosmart 7525 - in the early days - did have issues staying connected.

I had two of these (7520) printers - one of them did seem to have an inordinate amount of trouble staying awake and connected.  The "other" one seemed fine - different household, different network.  I never did check on why the second printer worked without problems - it was enough that it sailed through without issues.

At least in the case of the Photosmart 7520 (same series and essentially the same printer), the issue was corrected with an update to the printer software.  When?  Honestly, it has been a long time - "years ago"...

Ancient history at this point.

Today

The new Envy 6000 series are not the same printers as the old Photosmart series (of any flavor) - these new printers are not the same in terms of wireless connection abilities and (the new printers are ) certainly not the same (as the old Photosmart series) in most other ways.   New technology.

Sad to see you go...

We will be sorry to lose you, of course.

For those reading:

This new generation of Envy 6000 printers uses a newer initial connection setup method to increase the overall security for the printer.  Yes, even printers can be hacked.

User Guide

(Starting on) Page 24     Chapter 3 Connect your printer

NOTE:The printer only supports connections using 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz

This printer supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz - check to be sure the router is broadcasting on both and select your SSID / network for the bandwidth you want to use.  2.4GHz might reach a bit farther in distance - 5GHz is a bit faster....

If you have not done so, check the following information:

  • Page 96  Chapter 9 Solve a problem
  • Restore network settings and then reconnect the printer. See Connect using the HP Smart app on page 25.
