Error 1722. We started having printer HP Officejet 3830 problems a week or so ago. We ended up purchasing HP ENVY 6055e /6000e printer. We were unable to install the HP Envy printer because windows did not have a profile for it. Have tried to download drivers, fix drivers, delete and reinstall both printers, defrag computer, optimize, you name it.
We have Norton 360 as an antivirus and it also updates and diagnoses problems with our hard drive and printers. We have fiber op 4g internet all other components with that work (TV, phone, internet)
we are at the point where we are looking for a new computer since this one started as Windows 2007 and we now use windows 10 but really can't afford to do that. we did get a new logistic wireless mouse and keyboard but other than the letters faded from the strikers, it was working.
any solution for our computer not spooling to the printer? We have 2 ports and neither work.

Hi @Donmacq,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've been dealing with quite a frustrating issue with your printer setup. Let's try to troubleshoot this step by step.
Ensure Printer Connectivity: Confirm that your printer is properly connected to your computer, either via USB or through your network if it's a wireless printer. Make sure all cables are securely plugged in.
Check Printer Settings: Verify that the HP Envy printer is set as the default printer on your computer. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-clicking on the HP Envy printer, and selecting "Set as default printer".
Driver Installation: Ensure you've downloaded and installed the correct drivers for your HP Envy printer. Sometimes, Windows Update may not have the latest drivers, so it's best to download them directly from the HP website. Make sure to choose the correct drivers for your operating system (Windows 10).
Printer Spooler Service: Sometimes, issues with printing can be due to problems with the Print Spooler service. Try restarting the Print Spooler service by following these steps:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
- In the Services window, scroll down and find "Print Spooler".
- Right-click on Print Spooler and select "Restart".
- After restarting, try printing again.
Norton 360: Although antivirus software like Norton 360 is essential for security, sometimes it can conflict with printer operations. Try temporarily disabling Norton 360 and then attempt to print again to see if it resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to adjust the settings in Norton to allow printer communication.
Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for printer-related issues.
Printer Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooting tools for printers. You can try running the Printer Troubleshooter by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Printer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check Printer Ports: Make sure that the printer ports are properly configured. You can check this by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-clicking on your printer, selecting "Printer Properties", then navigating to the "Ports" tab to ensure the correct port is selected.
Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with either your printer or your computer's USB ports. Try connecting the printer to a different computer or USB port to see if it works there. If it does, the issue might be with your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
