Hi,
I have several HP network printers including a Deskjet 6980 that works via my home network on 4 other Win 10 64 bit systems.
Just purchase an HP Envy running the same version of Win 10 64 (1909) & the add printer assistant does not list the 6980.
Tried the Windows update option. Tried configuring via the TCP address as I usually do, says printer is not on the network. Tried cycling the router. Office jet & LaserJet printers are known & easily configured. Support advice says that Windows software can configure the 6980 but things that you're liable to read in the bible - the aint necessarily so. All I need is the .inf driver for the Deskjet. Any help would be gratefully received
Thanks

I'm not flagging this as a solution but as a workaround.
Having run out of ideas, I played around installing a range of desk jet drivers. Most would print garbage but the Deskjet 9800 successfully printed a test page. (This needed the update windows drivers to show up in the Add printer list).
The printer can be renamed as Deskjet 6980 in the printer properties.

Hi,
As you say it cannot be found using a TCP address, meaning there is any communication problem preventing the printer communication.
To get a better understanding of any possible cause, can you access the printer's EWS page by typing its IP Address into your browser?

Hi ShlomiL & thanks for your response,
The Deskjet responds by typing its IP address in Chrome & I can read the network parameters.
Any ideas would be welcome as the other two network printers installed like a breeze.
