@davio, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
What model printer are you using?
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and and click on 'Fix printing'.
Watch this video to know how to check if the print spooler service is running.
Let me know how this goes.

I have a Samsung SCX-4500.
When I run ScanPrintDoctor, I'm instructed to download the drivers from the approp HP page. Done repeatedly, having deleted the prior downloads. Nothing. Or, "Print spooler not running." Well, print spooler start setting is automatic--but, when I start it manually, about half the time the error message still comes back "Print Spooler not..." but otherwise the error is, "Remote call procedure failed," or words to that effect.
I've tried all the above running as admin and as non-admin.
When I power the printer off/on, sometimes I get two messages: 1. installing SCX-4500; 2. Printer installed. What actually happens is that it automatically installs the scanner driver, but not for print.
I can scan. I can print a copy from the printer. It will not print a document from the computer.
I've put hours into this, and am not far from deleting Win 10 and going over to Linux!
