Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Try making a standalone copy on the printer and check if that works.
  • If the copy works fine, it could be an issue with connectivity or the drivers.
  • Are there any lights blinking on the printer?

Step 1: Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Step 2: Check the ink levels

  1. Load U.S. letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper into the input tray.

  2. Turn on the printer.

  3. Search the Mac for Print and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.

  4. Click the name of your printer, then click Open Print Queue.

  5. Click Printer Setup or Settings, click Utility, then click Open Printer Utility.

  6. Click Supplies Status.

  1. Load U.S. letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper into the input tray.

  2. Turn on the printer.

  3. In the menu bar, click the Apple icon .

  4. Click System Preferences.

  5. Click Printers and Scanners or Print & Scan.

  6. Click the name of your printer, and then click Open Print Queue.

  7. Click Printer Setup or Settings, click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility.

  8. Click Print Quality Diagnostic.
