My printer is wirelessly connected and I am able to communicate with it from my computer. I am also able to scan docs TO my computer. I can print a test page from my computer, but am unable to pring anything from Firefox or from Word. I have tried several fixes from reading online, but nothing seems to work.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand the printer test page works but it doesn't print using word or the web browsers,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you try printing an alternate browser or any other office app to check if it works?
Have you attempted to run the application as an administrator and then print?
While you respond to that, here's a few things you can try:
The issue could have been caused by the security settings changed on the user profile.
You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC.
Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:
Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.
-
To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.
if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.
Keep me posted,

Riddle,
The security settings seemed to be the problem.
I applied your suggestion of setting the UAC slider to the 'never notify' position and it seems to be working OK now.
Thank you for your help and timely response.
Rufus
Edit:
I for one want to be notified about changes to my computer and having to turn that off can be an unsafe situation.
This seems to be such a common problem, maybe HP chould add a firmware update to fix this issue. Just a suggestion 😉

I have a similar issue - wireless connection is fine - test page prints, but I keep getting a printer error if I try to print from anything (Word, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, etc. . .) I tried the UAC change but that has not fixed the issue

Hi applej1972,
If you tried the UAC change, did you make sure to restart the computer?
The computer will not see the UAC change until it has been restarted.
The UAC change worked for my situaton, but I did not like to keep my settings in such an unsafe position.
