Hi I recently donated my printer to my workplace, IT department connected it but I could only print from my phone by hooking up directly onto the hpwifi.. that meant my phone would use data to open the document I wanted to print then print it via the hpwifi. When I changed to the new ink cartridges, the printer will no longer hook up to the internet even my phone will not hook up. The problem seems to be that the printer wifi and the work wifi do not interface with each other if I put connect the computer up to the hpwifi then I cannot access the internet with the computer to bring up things that need to be printed. The problem might be the instant ink... if we were to purchase regular ink could that solve the problem?

Hi @Ace69

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

If you are using Instant Ink cartridges to print, the printer has to be connected to the internet(wireless router). You cannot use wifi-direct (HP wifi).

If you are using HP regular ink cartridges, you can connect the printer to any device using wifi-direct(HP wifi) to print.

Note: While using wifi-direct, there wil be no internet on the phone/PC. The default password for this is 12345678

For more info on printing via wifi-direct, kindly refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
