Hello!
So my Smart Tank series 6000 printer is working, but there's a 00 error code on the screen.

Also noticed that when I lift up the cover, the ink cartridge carriage which normally moves to the center, no longer moves the center of the printer inside.

Has anyone been able to fix these two issues- error code and the carriage not moving?

@CarolynJM1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The "00" error code on your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer can be associated with issues related to the ink carriage or sensors. When you lift the cover, the normal behavior of the ink carriage is to move to the center, allowing access to the printheads and cartridges. The absence of this movement can indicate a potential mechanical or sensor issue.

Here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before reconnecting the power cord to the printer and then to the electrical outlet.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions within the printer that could be preventing the carriage from moving. This includes checking for any paper jams or loose objects inside the printer.

Manual Carriage Movement:

  • With the printer off, manually check if the carriage assembly can move freely by gently pushing it to the center. Be cautious not to force it.
  • If it feels obstructed, look for any foreign objects or jammed paper causing the blockage and remove them.

Reseat Printheads and Cartridges:

  • Ensure that all printheads and cartridges are securely in place. Open the printer cover and carefully reseat them.
  • Make sure there is no packing material or any other impediments within the carriage assembly.

Printer Diagnostics:

  • If your printer has a diagnostic or maintenance mode that checks for carriage functionality, run it to identify potential hardware issues.
