Hi @JazzF

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 2776 printer is having trouble connecting to the new router, here are steps you can follow to reconfigure its wireless network settings:

1. Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • Start by resetting the printer's network settings. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel:
    • Go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.

2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • After resetting, you'll need to reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network:
    • On the printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password.

3. Check Wi-Fi Signal:

  • Ensure the printer is within range of the new router. If possible, move it closer to the router temporarily to improve the connection.

4. Check Router Settings:

  • Make sure that your router is set to allow new devices to connect. Check if there’s a MAC address filtering setting that may be blocking the printer.

5. Use HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone. It can help with setup and provide guided instructions for connecting your printer to the new network.

6. Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer and your router. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

7. Check for IP Address:

  • After trying to connect, print a network configuration page from the printer's menu. This will show whether the printer has obtained an IP address and what it is.

8. Update Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can find updates on the HP support website.

9. Use WPS (if available):

  • If your router supports WPS, you can use this feature:
    • Press the WPS button on your router.
    • On the printer, go to Network Setup > WPS and follow the prompts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel,

  Thanks for the detail explanation/solution.

I've tried all the steps, but still failed.

The network configuration is successful

But the printer is just not connected to the network/WIFI.

It didn't get any IP from the router's DHCP

Fyi, printer, router/modem are all near to each other (3 feet away).

Hi @JazzF,

May I know if the wifi frequency is 2.4 or 5 Ghz?

If your printer isn't connecting to the network and isn't getting an IP address from the router, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Wi-Fi Status: Ensure the printer's Wi-Fi is turned on. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to enable Wi-Fi.

Network Configuration: Make sure the printer is set to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can often do this through the printer's control panel or settings menu.

Reboot Your Devices: Restart both your printer and your router. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

Move Closer to the Router: If possible, move the printer closer to the router to ensure a stronger signal.

Check Router Settings: Ensure that DHCP is enabled on your router, as this is what assigns IP addresses to devices on your network.

Printer Setup: Use the printer's software or the HP Smart app to set it up again. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

WPS Connection: If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use this feature to connect your printer by pressing the WPS button on your router and then on your printer.

Static IP Address: If DHCP is still not working, you can try assigning a static IP address to your printer through the printer settings.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date, as updates can sometimes fix connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
